Ezra Blount Fighting For His Life After Being Crushed At Astroworld Festival

Ezra Blount, the 9-year-old who was hospitalized with severe injuries following a crowd surge at Astroworld music festival earlier this month, has died from his injuries, his family confirmed.

Ezra Blount sadly dies

Ezra Blount passed away Sunday at Texas Children’s Hospital in Houston.

The family’s attorney, Ben Crump, said in a written statement Sunday evening:

“The Blount family tonight is grieving the incomprehensible loss of their precious young son. This should not have been the outcome of taking their son to a concert, what should have been a joyful celebration.

Ezra’s death is absolutely heartbreaking. We are committed to seeking answers and justice for the Blount family. But tonight we stand in solidarity with the family, in grief, and in prayer.”

Ezra was placed in a medically induced coma after suffering “severe liver, kidney and brain damage” when he was trampled during the melee that left hundreds hurt at the Houston festival.

Lawsuit

Treston Blount, Ezra Blount’s father, filed suit against rapper Travis Scott, entertainment giant Live Nation and other festival organizers last week in Harris County District Court on his son’s behalf, seeking damages of more than $1 million for negligence.

What happened to Ezra Blount?

Ezra was on his father’s shoulders when pressure from the crowd caused Treston to lose consciousness. The father lost consciousness and when he came to, Ezra was missing, Blount said in a GoFundMe post.

A frantic search ensued until Ezra was eventually found at the hospital, severely injured.

He is the 10th person who attended the festival to die.
