UPS driver who saved woman’s life becomes lifelong supporter as she battles cancer
Veteran UPS driver Raheem Cooper rushed to help when he saw 78-year-old Marie Coble collapsed in her driveway on August 12, 2024.

On August 12, 2024, Raheem Cooper—a veteran UPS driver from Georgia known for his kindness—spotted 78-year-old Marie Coble collapsed in her driveway.
A recent cancer survivor, Marie had suffered a sudden brain bleed. Without hesitation, Raheem rushed to her side, called 911, and stayed by her until help arrived, his presence steady and reassuring during her most vulnerable moment.

But Cooper’s heroism didn’t end there.
After the incident, he kept in touch with Marie’s family, checking in on her recovery and even visiting her in the hospital. Their bond deepened—Marie began calling him her “angel,” and Cooper affectionately referred to her as his “grandmother”.
Then came devastating news: Marie had been diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer. Despite the grim prognosis, Cooper remained by her side.
GoFundMe created
He launched a GoFundMe campaign to help cover her medical and caregiving expenses, and he continues to visit and support the family as they navigate this difficult chapter.
“He’s still a part of our lives and truly an angel,” said Marie’s granddaughter, Kayla Cochran. “A year ago, if he hadn’t shown up, she wouldn’t be here with us”.
UPS recognized Cooper’s extraordinary compassion with a Challenge Coin and a personal letter from the CEO. But for Cooper, the real reward is the connection he’s built: “That’s my adopted family at this point,” he said.
