Smith Sisters: Sisters keep the family together
The community rallied in support around the family to acknowledge the solid relationships of the sisters and their commitment to family and to community. — Robin Martin

Long Branch, NJ – Fourth of July is the birth of our nation’s independence from Great Britain’s ideal of government – colonization. The most significant reason our nation won independence from the British was the strong ideal of freedom and liberty, an ideal everyone believed was right for the new nation of America. So, together the American colonies fought together for life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness in the historical Revolutionary War which concluded in victory. A victory we, the nation celebrate annually with family and with community. This weekend we celebrated America’s 235th birthday, a symbol of determination and unity of one ideal. In the spirit of the Fourth of July, the Smith family honored the five sisters of the family, with a large outdoor barbeque, set in the back drop of the Atlantic Ocean, with the presence of a constant ocean breeze on a day blessed by heaven. The community rallied in support around the family to acknowledge the solid relationships of the sisters and their commitment to family and to community. Also, for that fine American cuisine, soul food and soul music the community rallied to celebrate with the family.
As the music was silenced and guests gathered around, the sisters took the center platform while the poem, to honor them, was read aloud. As they smiled during the reading, cameras flashed to capture the moment. It was a fine moment as the sisters were acknowledged by their loving family, for their love, and for their consistency that keeps the family together. It was a wonderful exchange of gratitude by the family to speak and display their love openly for the contributions of the Smith sisters Gloria, Linda, Brenda, Beverly and Valerie.
Like the Revolutionary War, a belief in an ideal, in this case family, with unity and determination the Smith Sisters have managed
successfully to keep their family together.
