EPSN documentary on Magic Johnson’s HIV Announcement
More than two decades ago, Earvin Magic Johnson, announced to the world that he contracted the HIV virus.
The news definitely shocked the world, but put a face on the AIDS epidemic that was only thought to effect gay men.
Now 20 years later, Johnson has teamed up with ESPN to recount that time and how his life has changed in the documentary called “The Announcement”.
In the documentary, friends and colleagues as well as his oldest son Andre, and wife Cookie, who was 2 months pregnant at the time, talk about Johnson’s big announcement and how it effected them.
The documentary, “The Announcement,” will air March 11 at 6 p.m. PT on ESPN.
