Maryland woman who claimed she won record mega jackpot now says she lost ticket
A Maryland woman who claimed she bought a winning ticket in the mega millions lottery is now saying she has lost the ticket
Mirlande Wilson, a Maryland woman who claimed she bought a winning ticket in the mega millions lottery, is now saying she has lost the ticket, according to NBC Washington.
Wilson, 37, made headlines when she bought a ticket that was reportedly for a pool with coworkers at McDonalds, but she claimed it was her own, purchased separately from the others.
Wilson was asked if she was going to claim the winning ticket. “if I find it… I misplaced it.” She earlier had told reporters she hid the ticket in a Baltimore area McDonald’s.
A winning ticket was sold at the 7-Eleven in Baltimore, but officials have yet been able to determine from video surveillance who purchased the ticket. Furthermore, no one has yet to come forward to claim the prize.
Wilson, a Haitian immigrant, has been swarmed by media since her story first broke. Addressing doubts that she actually won, she told NBC, “I didn’t make up the story. I did not make up no story to get no attention.”
Mirlande Wilson claimed she had hidden the ticket somewhere inside the McDonalds where she worked, but now tells NBC she “misplaced it.”
