Zimmerman’s defense files new motion for bond hearing
A new bond hearing has been set for George Zimmerman, after his bond was revoked for lying about his finances.
A new bond hearing has been set for George Zimmerman, after his bond was revoked for lying about his finances.
With the new bond hearing set for Friday, Zimmerman’s defense attorney Mark O’Mara has reportedly filed a motion to argue why his client should be granted bond, according to The Orlando Sentinel.
O’Mara will attempt to state his case on why George Zimmerman should be released from jail. The defense argues, Zimmerman “has no criminal convictions, no history of failing to appear at court proceedings and has significant ties to the community as evidence at his initial bond hearing.” O’Mara also asserts his client has maintained contact with law enforcement when not in jail, and has now twice turned himself in to authorities.
While Zimmerman’s defense is relying heavily his record to free him from jail, the fact this his wife Shellie lied about their finances, and Zimmerman failed to turn in all his passports, will become a major issue during the new bond hearing.
Once the court found about Shellie Zimmerman’s misconception, she was immediately arrested for perjury, while George Zimmerman’s bond was revoked.
