Review: Cassie – RockaByeBaby Mixtape
Myspace made us take notice of this young lady, with a pretty face and a decent voice but had enough sex appeal that came through the song Me & U.
Myspace made us take notice of this young lady, with a pretty face and a decent voice but had enough sex appeal that came through the song “Me & U”. Then came the video, while minimalist and simple, was seductive and exposed Cassie Ventura solely.
Ryan Leslie, the musical genius behind Cassie (Ventura), saw something in her that probably most A&R people didn’t.
Then partnering with Diddy and Bad Boy, along with Leslie’s music-media company NextSelection, they released her debut album on the strength of that single and it made her a household name.
Well, fast forward after the fanfare of the debut and there are rumblings of an album titled, “Electro Love” with several singles that dropped and didn’t go anywhere. So, she concentrates on modeling and being snapped by paparazzi, as well as leaked pictures and a budding “rumored” romance with Sean “Diddy” Combs.
Cassie returns with RockaByeBaby mixtape
The “RockaByeBaby” mixtape then drops in April and somewhere, while all of this was going on, Ms. Cassie Ventura gets hungry again and it shows on this release.
Also, her vocal maturity shines on this release, as well as the fact, that Ryan Leslie is not featured on this release. She takes her music to another level and escapes the boundaries of which she used to be constrained.
Say what you like about Cassie, and they have, but she has transcended to another musical level in her lane and for that I’m impressed.
