The settlement was negotiated Monday and resolved as part of a scheduled mediation.

The city of Louisville has settled a $2 million lawsuit with Kenneth Walker, Breonna Taylor’s boyfriend, who sued the city and several police officers, according to The Courier Journal.
Lawsuit settled with Kenneth Walker
The settlement was negotiated Monday and resolved as part of a scheduled mediation.
Walker filed civil lawsuits in both state and federal court in September 2020, seeking punitive and compensatory damages against the city and several officers involved with the raid.
Kenneth Walker’s lawsuit says rights were violated
The lawsuit asserted Walker’s rights were violated when officers obtained and approved the “materially false” search warrant, failed to announce before they entered Taylor’s apartment and used excessive and unreasonable force. It also claimed LMPD’s policies, customs and practices led to these violations.
Botched raid
Walker and Taylor, were asleep in her Louisville apartment on March 13, 2020, when LMPD officers attempted to serve a search warrant as part of a narcotics investigation. Walker, who has said he thought an intruder was breaking in, fired a single shot that hit former Louisville Sgt. Johnathan Mattingly. Taylor was shot to death when police returned fire.
Walker was initially charged with attempted murder but the case was eventually dismissed.
