Police continue to investigate a fatal shooting that killed two siblings in Euclid, Ohio.

Ohio siblings killed in shooting

On Tuesday, Dec. 10, after 7 p.m. EST, both Mariana Grier, 21, and Antwon Grier, 20, were shot when “gunfire erupted within the crowd” of an apartment complex parking lot in Euclid, police told ABC affiliate News 5.

The siblings’ mother, LaShawnda Grier, told News 5 Cleveland that she was present when her two kids were gunned down. She added that Antwon “died in my arms.”

“As a mother, how do you pick which kid you are trying to save and both of them down?” Grier asked.

The tragic incident

A group of women captured on surveillance video were waiting at the apartment to attack her daughter. Her son Antwon went there to try and de-escalate the situation, said Grier.

She says the violence stemmed from jealousy over a boy, adding the girls pictured in security camera footage from the complex worked with her daughter.

She also claims there was a SUV full of people lying in wait.

“They came there to ambush my kids,” said Grier.

The Euclid Police Department said in a statement a disturbance broke out among a gathering of people in the parking lot of the apartment complex.

Grier herself was almost shot, and moments after the shooting, was performing CPR on her son.

When police arrived on the  scene , life saving efforts were performed on both siblings. They were taken to a nearby hospital where they succumbed to their injuries.

GoFundMe

A GoFundMe fundraiser has been started to help the family as they process the untimely death of the siblings.

“Antwon and Mariana were full of life, with bright futures ahead of them. They brought joy, love, and laughter to everyone who knew them. Antwon was known for his sense of humor and kind heart, always lifting others up, while Mariana was an incredible soul—compassionate, driven, and full of dreams for her future. Together, they were a beautiful pair whose spirits will forever be missed,” the fundraiser reads.
