A judge reportedly told Wendy Williams that her career is over at a recent hearing regarding her controversial guardianship.
According to TMZ, sources claim that Judge Lisa Sokoloff exclaimed, “It’s done,” referencing the 60-year-old’s radio and television career.
Judge allegedly scolds Wendy Williams and niece
Judge Sokoloff also reportedly accused Williams’s niece, Alex Finnie, of leaking information to the media and threatened her with sanctions for future conduct. The source also claimed that the judge called Williams’ family “no good.” The outlet reported that the media mogul was hurt by the remarks.
TMZ noted that “people are keenly interested in Wendy’s career,” citing the success of the Tubi documentary Saving Wendy and continued media coverage.
Path forward
In recent months, Williams has taken to the media to vocalize her desire to be let out of her guardianship.
The New Jersey native first called into The Breakfast Club radio show on Jan. 16, where she talked about the “prison” she said she’s been living in. Williams cried at times and insisted that she’s “not cognitively impaired”.
Williams has been under the legal guardianship of Sabrina Morrissey since May 2022. Williams admits she asked for help but didn’t think her life would drastically change.
Her health care advocate, Ginalisa Monterroso, shared, “She kind of felt like, ‘Hey, I have the court. They’re going to assign me a money person. I’m going to be good.’ In no way did she think that her whole life was going to be taken away from her.”
“She wanted to make sure nobody’s in her money and she would be fine,” she continued to elaborate.
Williams’ attorney, Joe Tacopina, plans to take the case to a jury if the judge refuses to end the guardianship, according to TMZ.
