Wendy Williams to celebrate her father’s birthday but reportedly barred from contact with the media
While Williams will be able to join the celebration festivities, the judge has reportedly barred her from speaking with the media, TMZ reports.

A judge has approved Wendy Williams request to visit Florida to celebrate her father’s 94th birthday.
The former talk show host, 60, is currently under a court-ordered guardianship, housed in an assisted living facility in New York that she describes as a “luxury prison.”
Wendy Williams can celebrate father’s birthday
On Friday, Jan. 31, sources told TMZ that a judge authorized private security to accompany Williams to celebrate with her father and family.
Barred to speak with the media
While Williams will be able to join the celebration festivities, the judge has allegedly barred her from speaking with the media, TMZ reports.
This comes weeks after Williams and her niece Alex Finnie went on the Breakfast Club and several other media outlets to talk about the guardianship to shut down claims that she is cognitively impaired.
During the interview, Williams said she only had $15 dollars to her name and most of her belongings were sold including her cats.
She later became emotional talking about her father’s upcoming 94th birthday, admitting she wasn’t sure if she would be allowed to visit Florida to celebrate with him.
The media mogul affirmed that she wanted to be freed from the controversial guardianship and needs the public’s support.
Diagnosis
Williams was diagnosed with aphasia and frontotemporal dementia in May 2023. She was put in a court-ordered guardianship after Wells Fargo reportedly froze her accounts.
GoFundMe
A family friend has started a GoFundMe to raise $50,000 to support Williams in her journey to be freed from the guardianship to live with her family in Florida.
“For far too long, Wendy has faced the challenges of being unjustly placed under guardianship and labeled as incapacitated, despite her strong will and determination to live her life independently,” the description reads.”
“Her current situation is not only unfair but also deeply isolating. The guardian assigned to her has severed her connections with friends and family, leaving her without the support network she so desperately needs. This isolation in New York has made it increasingly difficult for her to maintain her strength and resilience.”
Path forward for Wendy Williams
Friends and family said you can continue to support Williams by sharing news stories like these, using the hashtag #FreeWendy, and if motivated to help financially, donating to the GoFundMe.
As her family continues its fight against the court-ordered guardianship, updates from the GoFundMe page promise to keep donors informed about new developments.
On her latest update on January 21, 2025, Williams said, “Today is 1/21/25. I have a pink Versace robe and a Victoria’s Secret black bra, and I am watching “Botched,” but my body is hitting and holding with my red lipstick because it’s winter. Still here in this luxury prison! Keep you all updated!”
