The family of Aiyana Jones, the seven-year-old who was murdered by police during a raid, has sued A&E TV Networks for encouraging police aggression during the raid, reports CBS Detroit.

The lawsuit, which has been filed in the United Stated District Court Tuesday claims the network and “The First 48” production crew is responsible for May 16th death of Aiyana.

Aiyana Jones was asleep on the living room sofa in her family’s apartment when Detroit Police, who were searching for a homicide suspect who murdered Je’Rean Blake, burst into her home. An officer’s gun mistakenly went off, striking Jones in the neck, family members said. The investigation is still ongoing.
