Trayvon Martin

Today marks the third year since Trayvon Martin was viciously killed by George Zimmerman.

Today marks 3 years since America spat in the faces of every young black boy in America.

Today marks 3 years since America reminded us that they don’t give a d–m about us.

When the audio of Trayvon’s killing was first released everyone begged me not to listen. All of my friends know how sensitive I am. And they were also aware that this occurrence really hit me deep. But me being the head strong person that I am, I listened anyway.

Heartbreak…. That’s the only way I could explain it. I was heartbroken. And I’m assuming I still am since just thinking about the audio has me in tears as I write this.

That little boy was killed for no reason. And hearing him screaming for help and then after the gunshot suddenly silence, that ripped through my soul.

The idea of listening to that baby cry is more than I think I could ever handle. All I could do was start screaming and crying while repeatedly saying, “I heard him die”.

That was a deep concept for me. To hear someone be murdered. And not just someone but a baby. And no matter what anyone says he was indeed a baby.

There’s people who attempt to discredit him because there are pictures of him holding up his middle finger.

They attempt to use that to say he was a problem. But what teenager who’s trying to assert their adulthood DOESN’T take a picture with their middle finger up now of days? And what teenager doesn’t experiment with weed?

Most that I grew up with and know all did these same things. So to try to demonize this baby to free Zimmerman was disgusting to me.

What’s even more disgusting is that three years later, after all if the injustices the Brown community of America has been enduring, the American Judicial System still can not find Zimmerman to be in the wrong. They don’t find where Trayvon’s civil/human Rights were violated so again, no punishment for Zimmerman.

When do we get justice? Or are we still being considered 3/5 human so f–k us? Something has got to change.

Are we suppose to take justice into our own hands? What if we began to live by the notion of “an eye for an eye” because apparently the Judicial System is not working for us! And realistically why would it?

When it was created it was done so in a way to cripple people of color. It was not created to protect us. It was created to entrap us. So why so we expect it to ever work in our favor?

We have to figure out a way to protect ourselves. The reality is, we’re walking
through a war zone with no armor!
