Model, restaurateur, and businesswoman B. Smith dies at 70
Legendary fashion model, chef, restaurateur, lifestyle icon, and businesswoman Barbara Elaine Smith, known as “B. Smith,” has died. She was 70.

B Smith dies at 70
Her husband, Dan Gasby, made the announcement on Facebook Sunday morning.
She was 70.
Smith died Saturday night of early-Onset Alzheimer’s Disease in her home in Long Island.
Iconic restaurateur
Smith was the first the first African American model to be featured on the cover of Mademoiselle magazine in 1976.
She would go on to become a prominent chef owning multiple restaurants called B. Smith including one in Manhattan and Sag Harbor.
She was a television host of her own show, B Smith With Style, where she did cooking and home decor segments. Smith also wrote several cookbooks.
Smith revealed she was diagnosed with early-Onset Alzheimer’s Disease in 2014.
