City High and Robbie Pardlo
Pardlo rose to acclaim with City High’s breakout hit “What Would You Do?”—a Wyclef Jean-produced anthem that addressed poverty and single parenthood. The track earned the group a Grammy nomination for Best R&B Performance by a Duo or Group in 2002 and climbed into the Billboard Hot 100’s top ten.
Following the group’s disbandment in 2003, Pardlo continued to work in music. He joined the R&B quartet First Take and collaborated with artists including Whitney Houston and Lil’ Kim. He also appeared in a 2010 episode of A&E’s Intervention, where he candidly addressed his struggles with addiction and the impact on his family.
A devoted Philadelphia Eagles fan, Pardlo celebrated the team’s championship run earlier this year with characteristic enthusiasm.
Legacy
Pardlo leaves to cherish his memory to his wife, two children, and a host of loved ones.
Memorial service details are expected to be announced in the coming days.
