Playwright August Wilson, two-time Pulitzer-winner will be honored with the 44th postage stamp in the United States Postal Service’s Black Heritage series.

Playwright August Wilson will be featured on a USPS Forever next year. The postage will be available and dedicated on Jan. 28, 2021 in a virtual First Day of Issue Ceremony on the Postal Service’s Facebook and Twitter pages. The live broadcast will begin 11:30 AM ET.

The news comes as Netflix prepares to premiere several Wilson projects including Giving Voice and Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom this week.

Wilson, called the “theater’s poet of black America”, is best known for a series of ten plays collectively called The Pittsburgh Cycle, which chronicle the experiences and heritage of the African American community in the 20th century.
