Parris Bowens, a musician who captured the hearts of many with his talent, has passed away. According to reports, Bowens died from COVID-19 complications.
About Musician Parris Bowens
Parris Bowens was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. His love for music and art manifested at an early age from his parents, who were pastors. He was the eldest of five kids and came from a very musical household.
Bowens attended the Philadelphia Creative and Performing Arts High School, where notable alum include Boyz II Men, Questlove, Christian McBride and Leslie Odom.
In 1998, Bowens got his big break when he was discovered by Tye Tribbett. Through this discovery, Bowens signed to Sony. Under Sony, Bowens released three albums – LIFE, Victory LIVE, Standout.
Bowens went on to play, produce, arrange, compose and tour with many artists and producers, like The Roots, Floetry, Musiq Soulchild, Timbaland, Bubba Sparx, Anthony Hamilton and many more.
Fans have taken to social media to mourn his shocking untimely death
One fan tweeted: “I’m literally at a lost for words, damn, rest in power bro … cant believe i just had to say that about you”
Another added: “I am at a loss for words. RIP. My condolences, prayers goes out to his wife Dionne, his children and his extended family. May God’s peace which surpasses all understanding be with them right now.”
Music producer and pianist Devereau Williams wrote:
“My heart is heavy this morning! RIP to a great musical influence Parris Bowens. He went hard musically, spiritually & was an unapologetic believer! One THE most humble guys ever! He would take time to actually speak with you. Peace and comfort to the family!!! Rest well my friend.”
