The Great Things Happening at Asbury Park Middle School Part 2

On October 30, 2015 Asbury Park Middle School students were able to chat via a video conference with the students from Ghana.

Coordinating this session were Mr. Wronko, social studies teacher, Mrs. Major
Phillips, social studies and special needs teacher, and Mr. Schneider, social studies teacher.

For the fourth session APMS students who did not attend the first three sessions got the opportunity to meet the
students from Ghana.

This session began when Perfecto Kendle and Ali Salahedin gave the students from Ghana a special presentation on Mr. Wronko’s Cretaceous Warzone project and sightings of mythical monsters.

The Cretaceous War Zone project allowed students to take prehistoric creatures from the Triassic, Jurassic, and Cretaceous period and put them in combat situations to see what creature would survive.

The Cretaceous War Zone promoted students to conduct research about the physical aspects of the prehistoric creatures, geography, and forensics. The mythical monster project allowed students to study sightings of creatures that may be real such as the Loch Ness Monster, Lake Champlain Monster, and Bigfoot (more could be seen in the article “Great Things Happening at Asbury Park Middle School Part 2”

From there the students from Ghana sang a song of welcome as well as gave the students from APMS a news bulletin regarding their country. For instance, there news bulletin consisted of news reports on food,
sports, and resources. Every report was supported by multiple visuals which were displayed in the background. After the news bulletin was complete, the students from APMS got to ask students from Ghana multiple questions regarding natural disasters, food, and sports. The topic on sports produced a lively conversation between the students in Ghana and APMS because the Ghana soccer team defeated the United States on multiple occasions. This session ended with a see you later theme.
