GHANA AFTERNOON SESSION: SCIENCE WITH MR. MASON
During an afternoon session with the students in Ghana, sixth grade science teacher Mr. Mason had his students, Yader Mendez – Zeledon and Kavon Petersen

During an afternoon session with the students in Ghana, sixth grade science teacher Mr. Mason had his students, Yader Mendez – Zeledon and Kavon Petersen, demonstrate how light could make objects move, go through objects and reflect off objects. They showed this to the students in Ghana by using a radiometer, magnifying glass, and a flashlight. The flashlight was shown on the radiometer which was at a standstill. After the light hit it, the radiometer began to move. It was moving as a result of absorption. This proved that light could move objects.
As the flashlight was shining, it went through the glass radiometer and hit an independently held magnifying glass. The light reflected off of the magnifying glass and also went through the magnifying glass and hit a book. By going through the magnifying glass, they showed how the magnifying glass was also transparent.
They demonstrated and discussed how light that hits a transparent surface could both go through the surface, and reflect back to the person. After doing their demonstration, Yader Mendez – Zeledon and Kavon Petersen answered questions about their science experiment and daily science activities.
