Action Civics and the League of Women Voters Session with Oiada

Just recently Dr. Jason C. Fitzgerald, Action Civics supervisor, and Patricia L. Supplee, League of Women Voters, participated in a video-conference with Oiada’s Student Ambassadors.

Action Civics and the League of Women Voters Session with Oiada

This session was very special because Mr. David Wronko and his students from Asbury Park High School had been working on different projects with Action Civics and the League of Women.

Now for the first time both leaders of both projects came together for this Ghana session.

Happy New Year Project Ghana 2022: Action Civics and the League of Women Voters Joint Session with Oiada’s Student Ambassadors and More!

The session began with the Oiada Student Ambassadors giving a presentation about the continent of Africa. They explained that Africa was not one country but multiple countries filled with history and culture. From there, their presentation went into the history, culture, and politics of Ghana.

After their presentation, Dr. Jason C. Fitzgerald, college professor for Monmouth University, shared his experiences with African culture as he also went to visit countries in Africa. Furthermore, after his discussion, Patricia L. Supplee was able to conduct a lesson with the Oiada Student Ambassadors on the importance of being actively involved with civics.

Finally, Mr. David Wronko shared with the Oiada Ambassadors that his students were working with Dr. Jason C. Fitzgerald and Patricia L. Supplee on multiple projects involving Action Civics and the League of Women Voters. In addition, everyone participating in the session, also the narrator for the session Eric Jones, Oiada International CEO, spoke about the importance of furthering the video conferencing with Ghana so we could live in a world community which would support each other. After that discussion took place, Project Ghana on Classroom Close-up was shown as one of the ways to get out the positives regarding video conferencing.

On an end note. Before winter break, the students at Asbury Park High School did a fun session with the students at the Solid Rock Foundation School in Ghana involving Spider-Man.
