N.J.’s Dunbar Repertory sets Black Nativity auditions for Sept. 7
Auditions are set for September 7 for the December performance .

The Dunbar Repertory Company announces the 10th Anniversary of its Bi-Annual production of Black Nativity and has opened auditions.
This milestone marks over two decades of bringing together diverse voices to celebrate the birth of Christ through music, movement, and storytelling. Under the visionary leadership of Darrell Lawrence Willis, Sr., the production continues to uplift and unite audiences across generations.
Black Nativity: A Legacy of Inclusion and Joy
What makes Black Nativity at Dunbar Repertory truly special is its unwavering commitment to inclusivity. The cast and choir reflect a vibrant tapestry of ethnic backgrounds, genders, spiritual beliefs, and ages—all coming together to honor the true “Reason for the Season.” This celebration transcends performance; it’s a living testament to harmony, faith, and shared purpose.
Calling All Vocalists: Black Nativity Audition Details
To prepare for this landmark performance, Dunbar Repertory invites vocalists to audition on Sunday, September 7, 2025 at the Phoenix Productions Building, located at 59 Chestnut Street, Red Bank, NJ 07701.
- Returning Choir Members: Please arrive promptly at 3 PM for a brief meeting, registration, and rehearsal schedule pickup. We’re thrilled to welcome familiar faces back to the stage.
- New Auditionees: Arrive during the same time frame and be ready to sing one verse of your favorite song a cappella. We’re eager to discover fresh talent and new voices.
