Paramount+ has confirmed that The Chi will return for its eighth and final season on May 22, releasing a new trailer that marks the beginning of the show’s closing chapter.

A Final Chapter Arrives After Nearly a Decade

The long-running drama ends with a 10‑episode season, available exclusively through the platform’s Premium Plan. New episodes will debut each Friday.

Paramount+ describes the final stretch as the coldest winter the South Side has ever faced, a backdrop that pushes every character toward defining choices. The season centers on rising tension, fractured trust, and decisions that shape legacy and survival.

A Story That Grew With Its City

Since its 2018 debut, the series has followed residents whose lives intersect across Chicago’s South Side. The show built a loyal audience by portraying community, ambition, and generational change with emotional depth.

Themes of Loyalty, Legacy, and Consequence

Paramount+ notes that the final episodes confront characters with life‑or‑death stakes, forcing them to reckon with past choices and shifting alliances. Conflicts that have simmered for years now reach breaking points as the neighborhood faces its most unforgiving season.

The creative team describes the final arc as the show’s most emotionally charged, blending legacy, conflict, joy, and pain in ways that reshape every storyline.
