Oklahoma man killed Black woman to ‘teach her a lesson’, authorities say
An Oklahoma man accused of fatally shooting a Black woman told detectives he did it to “teach her a lesson” and said he was glad he’d done it.

Shane Dale Perosi, an Oklahoma man accused of fatally shooting a Black woman, told detectives he did it to “teach her a lesson” and was glad he’d done it.
Perosi, 30, of Enid, Okla. is charged with first-degree murder in the death of Martika Ferguson.
He is also charged with possession of a firearm by a persons with a felony and destruction of evidence.
Shane Dale Perosi attacked Martika Ferguson
Officers were called Sunday afternoon to an alleyway, where residents of the neighborhood had spotted Martika Ferguson, 27, of Enid, lying on the ground, according to a statement by Enid police. Ferguson was pronounced dead at the scene.
Authorities say the investigation led detectives to Perosi’s house, where they served a no-knock warrant. During the execution of the search warrant, evidence was found that tied him to Ferguson’s death.
His confession
“During an interview with Perosi, he confessed he shot and killed Ferguson,” police officials said in a news statement. “Perosi said he’d done so to teach her a lesson.”
Authorities said they are unclear what ‘lesson’ Perosi believed Ferguson needed to learn, or if race was a factor in the killing. Perosi is white.
“During his booking at the Garfield County Detention Facility, Perosi again reiterated he had murdered Ferguson and said he was glad he’d done so,” authorities said.
Authorities have yet to disclose if Ferguson and Perosi knew one another before the shooting.
In another statement, Enid Police Capt. Scott Miller praised the officers’ efforts and their three-day investigation.
“They did a very good job, were very persistent and conducted a non-stop investigation,” Miller said. “They brought closure to the victim’s family and have made our community safer with the arrest of their suspect.”
As of Friday, Perosi remained in a county jail. The investigation into Ferguson’s death is ongoing.
