Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Middle School student, Amira Gates, a student of Mr. Wronko’s seventh grade social studies class, was recognized by the Asbury Park-Wall Elks #128 Lodge for her essay on why we should vote.
Below was the essay written by Amira Gates. She put a lot of time and effort into her essay.
Why we should vote
It is important to vote because the people have the power to make change. For instance, by voting, people can pick a candidate for a public office that would increase a worker’s income, lower taxes, and create equal pay for women. We want candidates that become our politicians to answer all questions that are raised by our communities. If I vote for someone, I do not want them to repeat what they said over and over.
Now our country is dealing with the most important election of our lifetime. Our country needs somebody who is mature and really responsible. We the people want someone who is educated and is qualified to hold the highest office in the country. This is why it is important to vote. People need to vote in order to pick the candidate that will create jobs, make college affordable, and keep businesses in the country so that the citizens will have jobs to support their families. Furthermore, it is important to vote because taxes on income and property need to be decreased for those who cannot afford to pay their bills, childcare needs to be updated to help children in need, and our environment needs to be protected for future generations.
Finally, it is important to vote because it is about time for women to get equal opportunities and pay. It is important to vote especially for this upcoming presidential election because we do not want someone making fun of other people. People with illnesses and medical problems also need better hospitality. We are the home of the free, and we want justice and independence for country. We do not want somebody who may trample on our rights. It is important to vote in all public elections because education needs to improve especially in the subject areas of Mathematics, Geography, Art, Literature, Physical Education, Chemistry, Technology, and Economics.
In conclusion voting is important because your future depends on it because the candidate elect will make decisions that impact your everyday life. In closing I would vote for Hillary Clinton over Donald Trump because I feel that she will fulfill everything I spoke about in this essay.
