Business 101: 3 Tips on how to “get heard” on Unheard Voices
Whether you’re inquiring about an interview or submitting music, it is always imperative to remain professional at all times. Here are tips to get your inquiries and proposals moved to the front.
When approaching a business such as an online magazine/blog, you may actually be speaking with the business owner of the site as opposed to an intern who may answer emails.
Whether you’re inquiring about an interview, submitting music, or getting your music played, it is always imperative to remain professional at all times when contacting the business.
Here are business tips to get your inquiries and proposals to get the attention of UV:
- Be professional. Whether you’re contacting the company through a Facebook message or email, it is always important to remain professional. You need to distinguish between when speaking with your friend and writing a company a formal message. Starting off your email with “yo what’s good my n—a” is not an effective way to get the proper attention you want. It shows a lack of professionalism on your part. The email will never get a response.
- Be concise and confident. Say what you mean, and mean what you say. Be sincere but also confident in what you’re saying.
- Follow Directions. Most websites have precise directions on how to submit materials or how to ask questions.
- “You should put me on because I’m hot”. Why? This goes back to being concise and confident. At Unheard Voices, all interview inquires must be sent with a proposal/pitch.
