About Friends of Cedar View Cemetery
Friends of Cedar View (FOCV) works to preserve and protect Cedar View Cemetery, an African American burial site in Lincroft, New Jersey, founded on November 14, 1850.
The organization strives to maintain the solemnity of the cemetery and raise public awareness of its historical and cultural significance. Cedar View is one of Monmouth County’s most historic Black gravesites, where many interred were formerly enslaved people and their manumitted descendants.
For decades, the cemetery was neglected and overgrown. Recent restoration efforts by FOCV have helped return it to a place of remembrance and honor.
