According to authorities, a domestic dispute is being reported as to what triggered the killing spree that took place in various residences.
Dantzler reportedly fled and led the Grand Rapids police on a high speed chase with a hostage, and forced his way into an apartment on Interstate 96. The Grand Rapids police stated this was the highest body count in the city’s history.
After taking hostages in the apartment, Dantzler eventually released them and ultimately fatally shot himself in the head.

The victims have been identified as Amanda Emkens, 27; Marisa Emkens, 11; Kimberlee Emkens, Dantzler’s ex-girlfriend; Jennifer Heeren, another ex-girlfriend of Dantzler; Kamrie Dantzler, the gunman’s own 12-year-old daughter; and Thomas and Rebecca Heeren, Jennifer’s mother and father.
A friend of Dantzler’s told CBS News that Dantzler had a dispute with his current girlfriend earlier in the day and reportedly said he would “kill them all.”
