Cory Booker announces candidacy for U.S. Senate

It’s official! Cory Booker announced this morning his candidacy for United States Senate.

The Newark mayor put to rest days of speculation if he would run in the August special election to the fill the seat left vacant by the death of U.S. Sen. Frank Lautenberg.

Cory Booker made the candidacy announcement via press conference.

“I am here because I believe people who care can find solutions to even the most difficult problems. I am here because, when we work together, I know from experience that there is no problems we can’t solve,” Booker said. “I am here today because I know who we are and what we are capable of doing together for New Jersey and for this nation.”
