Facebook and Instagram users don’t have a meltdown. It is not your connection or that you’re banned, but simply both sites are down.

Social media Facebook and Instagram are down

The Daily Mail reports website Down Detector, shows the outage appears to have started around 4:48 p.m. (ET), with worldwide reports within an hour.

A live outage map shows hotspots in the northeastern region of the US, as well as some parts of Europe.

Users reported having issues logging into the service, posting comments and viewing photos.

As a result, Facebook-owned apps like Messenger and WhatsApp appeared to have also been hit by the outage, albeit there being fewer user reports on Down Detector.”
