Family demands justice after mother found dead in Atlantic City, NJ apartment
Christina Burdette, a 34-year-old mother of two, was found dead Saturday morning in an Atlantic City, New Jersey apartment.
ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. — The family of Christina Burdette is demanding answers after the 34-year-old mother of two was found dead Saturday morning in an Atlantic City, New Jersey apartment.
What happened to Christina Burdette?
Police responded to the 2000 block of Sheridan Avenue around 10:08 a.m. following a report of an unresponsive woman. Burdette was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office confirmed that the Major Crimes Unit and Atlantic City Police Department are actively investigating.
Officials have officially ruled Burdette’s death a homicide.
According to family, Burdette’s body showed signs of trauma, including bruises and gauze wrapped around her head as if she were in a fight, 6 ABC Philadelphia reports.
Family demands justice
Burdette’s family is pleading for justice in her tragic passing. Her mother, Stephanie Abeulkabiir, described her daughter as “beautiful” and “loved by everyone.” Her sister, Nicole Burdette, echoed those sentiments, calling Christina a quiet soul devoted to her children.
“She didn’t bother anybody,” Nicole said to 6 ABC. “She was mainly about her kids.”
Family members said Burdette died in an apartment that a relative of her children’s late father owns. While they remain cautious, they emphasized their decision not to speculate, choosing instead to let the investigation unfold.
Burdette’s tragic passing now leaves her children ages 3 and 6 without parents. According to family, their father died several years ago, leaving the family devastated and determined to seek accountability.
As funeral plans begin, Abeulkabiir urged the community to come forward.
“Get justice for my daughter,” she said. “She did not deserve to go out the way she did.”
