Man charged with kidnapping missing Philadelphia woman Kada Scott
Kada Scott, 23, vanished October 4 after leaving for her overnight shift at The Terrace at Chestnut Hill.
PHILADELPHIA, Pa. — Police have arrested 21-year-old Keon King in connection with the disappearance of Kada Scott. Scott, 23, vanished October 4 after leaving for her overnight shift at The Terrace at Chestnut Hill .
Keon King arrested in connection to Kada Scott’s disappearance
King was taken into custody Tuesday and charged with kidnapping, police announced during a Wednesday press conference. Investigators say he was the last person in contact with Scott. Cell phone data shows King traveled with Scott’s phone before it went offline.
Car search
Police are urgently searching for King’s vehicle, a 1999 metallic gold Toyota Camry with Pennsylvania plates MSX-0797. They believe the car may hold critical evidence.
On Wednesday, police received a tip and located the vehicle at Gypsy Lane Condominiums in East Falls. The car was heavily tinted and towed for forensic examination.
Earlier that day, another tip led investigators to Ada H. Lewis Middle School in East Germantown. Officers found personal items belonging to Scott at the abandoned site, located near Awbury Arboretum.
When Kada Scott was last seen
Scott’s family last saw her around 9:45 p.m. on October 4. She left home for work but never completed her shift. Her car was found at the nursing home, but she didn’t leave in it.
Authorities said Scott stayed at work for only 20 minutes. Police believe she met King shortly after leaving the facility.
Authorities confirmed Scott and King knew each other, though the nature of their relationship remains unclear.
Keon King’s previous history
According to reports, King also faces a refiled kidnapping charge from earlier this year. Prosecutors say he abducted another woman, assaulted her, and released her. That case was dropped in May when the victim failed to appear in court.
Court records show King has a history of traffic violations and an open DUI case in Delaware County. He also faces charges for fleeing police and driving without a license.
Family continues search, launched GoFundMe
Scott’s family continues to canvass neighborhoods and distribute flyers. “We are just trying to figure out more,” said Sanaya Murray, Scott’s friend.
To support the search, Scott’s father Kevin launched a verified GoFundMe campaign titled “TIME IS CRITICAL — Kada Scott is still missing.” The fundraiser aims to raise awareness, fund search efforts, and offer a reward for credible information leading to Scott’s safe recovery. “Every dollar strengthens our ability to bring her home,” Kevin Scott wrote on the campaign page.
Ongoing Investigation
Police and the FBI are treating the case as active and urgent. Anyone with information is urged to call 215-686-TIPS (8477).
