Bach to Rock expands national footprint with 11 new schools
The schools, which offer private lessons, group ensembles and live performance opportunities, currently operate in 22 states.

BETHESDA, Md. – Bach to Rock, a national music school franchise, is expanding with 11 new locations under development, the company announced. The schools, which offer private lessons, group ensembles and live performance opportunities, currently operate in 22 states.
As many public schools continue cutting arts programs, families are turning to outside options. Bach to Rock says it aims to fill that gap by creating collaborative spaces where students can learn, practice and perform.
Bach to Rock’s Franchise Growth Strategy
Founded in 2007 and franchising since 2012, Bach to Rock has grown to 59 locations. Looking ahead, the company projects 100 sold units by 2028.
More than 40% of its schools are owned by multi‑unit franchisees, according to company data. Because of this trend, executives say the system shows strong demand and is built for easy scaling.
“We’re providing a chance for franchisees to give back to their communities while building a business,” said Ralph Rillon, vice president of franchise development and sales.
Bach to Rock’s Curriculum and Technology
The schools use proprietary software called Harmony and a mobile app to track lessons, billing and student progress. In addition, the Beat Refinery program—billed as the largest Serato‑certified DJ school in the U.S.—offers specialized DJ training.
President Brian Gross said the approach focuses on engaging students with both popular and classic music. “By pairing forward‑thinking methods with technology, we’ve built a loyal customer base,” he said.
Recognition and Incentives
Bach to Rock has appeared on Entrepreneur Magazine’s Franchise 500® list for nine straight years. Along with that recognition, the company offers incentives for veterans, including reduced franchise fees and royalty relief.
Outlook
With new schools planned in states including Illinois, Pennsylvania, Texas and Georgia, Bach to Rock continues to expand its reach. Even with this growth, industry observers note that competition in extracurricular education remains strong.
