OWN and NAACP highlight Black voices shaping community through storytelling
Private Los Angeles Event Highlights Partnership and Programming
LOS ANGELES, Calif. – OWN and the NAACP hosted a private celebration at The Aster Club on December 1, marking their ongoing collaboration around content that reflects diverse voices.
OWN and the NAACP Event Overview
Guests walked a black carpet before entering the venue, which featured branded displays and interactive photo stations. OWN’s President Tina Perry opened the evening with remarks about the shared mission of amplifying stories that shape culture.
Attendees included Iyanla Vanzant of Iyanla: Fix My Life, Amber Stevens West and Corbin Reid from The Christmas Showdown, host Tommy Miles of Ready to Love, cast members from Love & Marriage: Huntsville, and producer Carlos King of Heart & Hustle: Houston. NAACP members and press also attended.
Atmosphere and Experience
The event offered cocktails, food, and music from DJ Dar.Jar. Guests received custom blankets as mementos, symbolizing the partnership’s focus on community connection.
OWN’s Programming Spotlight
OWN highlighted several series during the evening:
- Iyanla: The Inside Fix – Returning in January with reflections on past episodes.
- Love & Marriage: Huntsville – Following friends and frenemies navigating relationships in Alabama.
- Ready to Love – Featuring Detroit singles seeking authentic connections.
- Heart & Hustle: Houston – Profiling Black women entrepreneurs balancing business and family.
- The Christmas Showdown – Premiering December 6, starring Amber Stevens West, Corbin Reid, and Loretta Devine.
The event underscored OWN’s programming strategy and its partnership with the NAACP. Both organizations continue to emphasize content that highlights diverse experiences and community impact.
