Twitch streamer HMBL ZAYY completes 3,000‑mile walk to support Philadelphia youth

Twitch streamer and Philadelphia activist Isaiah Thomas, known as HMBL ZAYY, has completed a 3,000‑mile walk from Philadelphia to California. He finished the trek on July 27 after 124 days on the road, livestreaming nearly every mile to raise money for a trade‑based education program for underserved youth in Philadelphia.

HMBL ZAYY Walks For The Youth

Thomas began the walk on March 26. By the time he reached California, he had raised $150,000 toward his goal of launching HMBL University, a school focused on skilled‑trade training for teens who may not pursue traditional college paths.

Journey Marked by Crashes, Tornadoes and Mountain Terrain

Thomas’ cross‑country mission came with serious risks. He survived multiple vehicle strikes, including a severe crash in Indiana on April 28 that left him temporarily hospitalized. Police said a senior driver caused the collision, which injured Thomas and another motorist.

Even after the crash, Thomas returned to the same stretch of road and continued west. He also pushed through Kansas tornado conditions and high‑altitude mountain terrain in Colorado, often walking long stretches alone.

Thomas streamed the walk on Twitch, drawing thousands of viewers who watched him push a supply cart across highways, deserts and mountain passes. Supporters encouraged him, donated to his mission and shared his progress across social media.

“What started out as the impossible in March became reality,” Thomas said to NBC 10 after completing the walk.

HMBL ZAYY’S Mission Focused on Expanding Career Options

Thomas says the walk was driven by faith and a desire to create opportunities for young people in Philadelphia. HMBL University will offer trade‑focused programs for teens who may not pursue traditional college routes. He believes hands‑on training can help students build stable careers and discover new skills.
