Rodolfo Godinez, the first defendant to stand trial in the Newark schoolyard slayings, was sentenced to 245 years.

Rodolfo Godinez must serve 218 years for his conviction on murder, robbery, and weapon charges.

The murders of Dashon Harvey, Terrance Aeriel and Iofemi Hightower and the shooting and stabbing of a fourth victim shocked New Jersey’s largest city.

All four victims were enrolled or about to be enrolled at Delaware State University

Five other defendants are awaiting trial.
