Current Events at Asbury Park High School Issue Two: League of Women Voters/Presentation of Action Civics Created Community Bills
Just recently the League of Women Voters, led by Patricia Supplee, came in and gave Mr. Wronko’s Advanced Social Studies Class a lesson on the importance of being actively involved in civics.

Just recently the League of Women Voters, led by Patricia Supplee, came in and gave Mr. Wronko’s Advanced Social Studies Class a lesson on the importance of being actively involved in civics.
Civics
Besides voting, she discussed with the students the importance they could have on the local, state, and federal level.
Patricia explained that getting involved with an issue whether it be with solving problems of the environment, making better gun laws, and assisting those with mental health issues could have an impact on making a better society. She stressed that using your voice and sharing your ideas with legislators could lead to the passage of bills that would benefit all.
Bills
In addition, to the lesson, my students had the opportunity to present their Action Civics Bill creation. The objective of the project was to design an idea for a bill to be passed at the State’s Legislator. Their bills involved the following: The Preamble, the Body, and the Enactment Clause. The bills they created dealt with issues such as environmental cleanup of masks used during the pandemic of Covid 19, helping Veterans after they return home from active service, and finding ways to restrict air pollution.
