There are new developments in the Tyler Clementi case.
Rutgers University cops tried to locate Tyler Clementi the night when the student died by suicide. A Rutgers Police officer testified this afternoon.
Officer Krzysztof Kowalczyk testified he went to Clementi’s room to do a “well-being” check. He spoke with his roommate Drahun Ravi on September 22, 2010 around 9:48 p.m.
Kowalcyzk said he asked Ravi the last time he seen his roommate and if he knew where he was.
“The last contact he had with Tyler was around 4:30, 5 that day,” Kowalczyk said. “The last time that he saw Tyler he had stated that Tyler had come into the room, didn’t mention anything unusual, had left the room and didn’t state where he was going.” – NJ.COM
Ravi is on trial on charges he used a webcam to spy on his roommate before Clementi jumped off the George Washington Bridge. He faces charges of invasion of privacy, bias intimidation and hindering apprehension. Prosecutors say Ravi activated the webcam on a friend’s laptop, announced via Twitter witnessing his roommate kissing another man, and invited his followers to watch a few days later.
Ravi’s lawyer said he wanted to make sure his expensive was safe, this is why he initially installed the web cam. Lawyer Steve Atman stated while Ravi acted immature, he is not prejudice or homophobic.
Testimony will resume tomorrow morning in the Tyler Clementi Case.
The man seen kissing Clementi in the video is expected to testify. He has only been identified as M.B. to maintain his privacy.
