Father of Teen on Horn Island with Nolan Wells offers $50K reward for information

Dr. Benjamin Hudson — the father of a teen who was on Horn Island with Nolan Wells before the 18‑year‑old disappeared and was later found dead — is offering a $50,000 reward for information that leads to an arrest and conviction, according to the Sun Herald and TMZ.

Hudson Says His Family Wants Answers

Hudson’s son, Warren, was part of a group of friends who traveled to the island on July 4. Hudson says his son was not on the same boat as Wells and has cooperated with investigators from the start.

“We don’t know what happened,” Hudson told the Sun Herald. “We have been completely transparent from the beginning because we want to know what happened, too.”

Public Pressure May Be Silencing Witnesses

Hudson said his family has received thousands of threats since Wells’ body was found off the northwest tip of Horn Island two days after he vanished. He believes the intense scrutiny surrounding the case may be discouraging potential witnesses from speaking.

Because of that, he hopes the reward will encourage anyone with credible information to come forward.

Reward Pool Continues to Grow

Hudson’s offer matches the $50,000 reward announced by the Rev. Al Sharpton during Wells’ funeral. Retired NFL star Terrell Owens has pledged $25,000, and actor‑producer Tyler Perry has added $50,000.

The combined reward now stands at $175,000 for information leading to an arrest and conviction.

Investigation and Legal Action Advance

Court records show Wells’ family may soon pursue litigation connected to his death. Notices to preserve evidence have been sent to several teens and investigative agencies, signaling that legal action is “reasonably anticipated.”

Civil rights attorney Ben Crump has launched an expert review of new evidence, including the full Sea Tow call from the day Wells disappeared and ocean‑tide analysis of the area where his body was found.

Families and Advocates Urge Witnesses to Speak

Hudson says he wants clarity, not blame. He hopes the reward will help investigators determine what happened to Wells and provide answers to the teen’s family.
