My review of Pretty Boy with the House In Virginia
You see at first sight, I pick the book to read and review because of the words:
“House In Virginia”. The use of those words may not spark any real interest; simple enough they seem.
Take a look again at the capital letters in, House In Virginia. Did you see HIV?
Seeing those letters quickly hits my heart. I have had a few members die from the son of HIV; AIDS. Anytime HIV or AIDS comes up in a conversation, the topic immediately grabs my attention. As I dig deeper into B. Styliz’s story, it becomes clear why he calls himself the self‑proclaimed Pretty Boy with the House in Virginia.
About B. Styliz
My research however is not extensive because there is not any need. B.Styliz is a definitely a pretty boy, lives with HIV and is an advocate. There are not hidden truths to be discovered; B.Styliz exposes himself, his life, his family situations and make his self greatly known to the world in his writing debut.
B.Styliz’ s birthday is January 7th and he will be 23. At 22, he crafted his book for publication with Tionna Smalls’ Talk Dat Ish Books. In his youth of a life time, he has already endured and overcame great obstacles. As if dealing with his homosexuality wasn’t enough; B.Styliz lived through the superstition of death occurring in threes.
He lost his mother, who was 36 years old when she died after her battle with cancer. Three years later to the day, his father who he was rebuilding a relationship with, died by suicide, and then he lost his older brother to a motorcycle accident. In the midst of all of this, he discovers that has the deed to the House In Virginia.
Life’s moments in vivid detail
In, The Pretty Boy with the House In Virginia, B.Styliz depicts his life’s moments in vivid detail. B.Styliz takes his life ordeals and creates greatness from them. He does not sugar coat anything and while it may seem that he may be glorifying some of the occurrences in his life; he is quick to show you how grateful he is for his chance at life and that everything has been a lesson learned.
