A St. Louis jury has found former reality TV star James Tim Norman guilty of conspiring to kill his nephew.
Tim Norman guilty
Norman, 43, was convicted on all charges of two federal murder-for-hire counts and one count of conspiracy to commit wire and mail fraud.
Authorities say Norman orchestrated the 2016 murder of his 21-year-old nephew, Andre Montgomery, then attempted to cash out up to $450,000 in a fraudulent life insurance policy he took out on Montgomery about 18 months before the death.

Norman and his nephew starred in “Welcome to Sweetie Pies” , an OWN reality show about the popular St. Louis soul-food business founded by Robbie Montgomery — Norman’s mother and Andre’s grandmother.
Norman’s Murder-for-hire plot
Prosecutors say Norman was after greed.
Evidence during the trial showed Norman paid $10,000 to an exotic dancer, Terica Ellis, to track his nephew’s location. Norman then used a friend to pay $5,000 to the shooter, Travell Anthony Hill, after Hill killed Montgomery.
Both Ellis and Hill testified for the prosecution.
“Mr. Norman’s crimes were motivated by greed and while the evidence was voluminous and overwhelming, Mr. Norman’s plan was relatively straightforward,” U.S. Attorney Sayler Fleming said after Norman was found guilty. “He fraudulently obtained life insurance in the amount of $450,000 on his nephew, Andre Montgomery, without Mr. Montgomery’s knowledge, he then used a paramour to locate Mr. Montgomery and a co-defendant to fatally shoot and kill him. Within days of his nephew’s murder, Mr. Norman started the process of getting the insurance company to pay the claim.”
Norman’s attorney Michael Leonard said his client being responsible for Montgomery’s murder was a “made up theory” by prosecutors and that he and Norman were “extremely surprised and disappointed in the outcome.”
Tim Norman’s Sentencing
Norman faces up to life in prison and is scheduled to be sentenced Dec. 15th.
