T. Thomas Fortune Cultural Center To honor Dr. King’s legacy
In partnership with Two River Theater, the center will present “Where Do We Go from Here: Chaos or Community?” on Saturday, January 10, at 3 p.m. in Studio-A.

In partnership with Two River Theater, the center will present “Where Do We Go from Here: Chaos or Community?” on Saturday, January 10, at 3 p.m. in Studio-A.
Dr. Aaron X. Smith
The program features Dr. Aaron X. Smith, Assistant Professor of Africology and African American Studies at Temple University. Smith, editor of Afrocentricity in Afrofuturism, will deliver the keynote address.
Youth Voices Join the Celebration
Presentations will include the Fortune Tellers, youth tour guides at the cultural center. The Diversity Club from Ranney School in Tinton Falls and the New Jersey Orators will also participate.
Additionally, the Friends of the Howe House in Montclair will provide a recording of the Constitutional Sound Bath.
Honoring Dr. King’s 96th Birthday
In recognition of Dr. King’s 96th birthday on January 15, the event draws inspiration from his final book. Where Do We Go from Here: Chaos or Community? was published before his assassination on April 4, 1968.
Today, the question remains urgent as America marks its 250th anniversary.

“As a Black American, I wonder when this country will grow-up and be rational about race as an artificial social construct that has no validity in today’s society,” said Gilda Rogers, Executive Director of the T. Thomas Fortune Cultural Center. “It’s counterproductive to creating a more perfect union.”
