Fulton County, GA — A Georgia family is mourning the death of 34‑year‑old Eboni Anderson, who was shot and killed Tuesday outside Palmetto Elementary School while delivering for DoorDash, 11Alive reported.

DoorDash Driver Shooting Victim Identified

Fulton County Schools confirmed to 11Alive Anderson was a parent of elementary‑age students, though her children did not attend Palmetto Elementary. The district said she was not an employee and released no additional details, citing privacy concerns.

The shooting happened just outside the school building and prompted an immediate lockdown.

Suspect Arrested After Multi‑County Chase

Police arrested 39‑year‑old Christopher Ates in Houston County after a chase that began in Warner Robins. Deputies said Ates crashed his vehicle, ran into the woods and officers quickly took him into custody. Authorities said they found a crying child in his vehicle and turned the child over to Fulton County’s Juvenile Division.

According to arrest warrants obtained by Atlanta First, Ates and Anderson knew each other and arrived at the school in the same car while Anderson was dropping off a DoorDash delivery. Surveillance video allegedly shows Ates assaulting Anderson outside the vehicle before shooting her multiple times and driving away with the child still inside. Houston County deputies said they attempted to pull him over, but Ates sped off, triggering the chase.

He faces charges of:

  • murder
  • aggravated assault
  • possession of a firearm by a person with a felony
  • carrying a weapon in school safety zones
  • possession of a firearm or knife during the commission of a crime

DoorDash Responds To Driver Shooting
