Fulton County, GA — A Georgia family is mourning the death of 34‑year‑old Eboni Anderson, who was shot and killed Tuesday outside Palmetto Elementary School while delivering for DoorDash, 11Alive reported.

DoorDash Driver Shooting Victim Identified

Fulton County Schools confirmed to 11ALIVE Anderson was a parent of elementary‑age students, though her children did not attend Palmetto Elementary. The district said she was not an employee and released no additional details, citing privacy concerns.

The shooting happened just outside the school building and prompted an immediate lockdown.

DoorDash Responds To Driver Shooting

DoorDash called the killing a tragic situation and said it is cooperating with investigators, per the outlet. The company expressed condolences to Anderson’s loved ones and said its team is working closely with law enforcement.

Suspect Arrested After Multi‑County Chase

Authorities identified the suspect as 39‑year‑old Christopher Ates. Police arrested him in Houston County after a chase that began in Warner Robins. Deputies said Ates crashed his vehicle, fled into the woods and officers quickly took him into custody.

During the arrest, deputies found a juvenile crying inside Ates’ vehicle. EMS evaluated the child and then turned the child over to the Houston County Sheriff’s Office Juvenile Division.

School Community Shaken but Safe

Officials emphasized that the shooting did not involve any students or staff. The district said it enforced safety protocols throughout the incident. A lockdown remained in place until law enforcement cleared the scene.

A GoFundMe campaign has been created to support Anderson’s family as they navigate funeral expenses and ongoing needs.
