Ka’Sheena Galatha Daniels, 31, died after stopping to help a trapped driver in a flipped vehicle on Interstate 10 in New Orleans, according to police and her family.

Daniels was traveling with friends on Sept. 25 when they saw a car flip near Elysian Fields Avenue. She recognized the trapped driver as her neighbor and immediately stopped to help. Witnesses said several motorists worked together to free the driver.

However, a second vehicle allegedly sped toward the crash scene and struck one of the stopped cars, pushing it into the group assisting the victim. Daniels suffered fatal injuries.

Police Say Speeding Driver Triggered Chain Reaction

New Orleans police said the first crash began when a speeding vehicle allegedly made a sudden lane change, hit a guardrail and flipped, trapping the driver. Several motorists stopped to help, including Daniels.

Moments later, the second collision struck the stopped vehicles and sent one forward into the crowd. Multiple people were injured. Daniels was the only person killed.

Her friend Franchon Williams told reporters the group searched frantically before learning someone had gone over the side of the interstate. Daniels was found below the roadway.

Family Remembers Her as a Hero

Daniels’ mother, O’Sheenana Daniels, said her daughter died helping someone she knew. “She just was that girl. If you needed help, and she could do it, it was done,” she told local media.

Her family said Daniels worked in accounting and hoped to become a paramedic. She had recently celebrated her birthday and was raising her adopted son, Noah.

Daniels’ mother described her as someone who “put someone else’s life before her own,” calling her final act heroic.

Family Launches Fundraiser for Funeral Costs and Noah’s Care

Daniels’ family has launched a GoFundMe to cover funeral expenses and support Noah’s long‑term needs, including housing, childcare and an education plan. The fundraiser has received donations as the community mourns her loss.

Her family says Noah has lost the person who provided him love, stability and security. They hope the fundraiser will help ensure he receives continued support.
