Monmouth County’s Jacob’s Ladder Teaches Young Scholars About The Importance of Community Service
Jacob’s Ladder is a collective group of educators, mentors, and parents whose main focus is to educate the youth on the importance of community service.

Long Branch, NJ – Jacob’s Ladder, a new non-profit youth development program based out of Monmouth County, kicked off their first event at Long Branch Public Library on Thursday, December 7th.
About Jacob’s Ladder
Founded by Educator Twana Richardson, Jacob’s Ladder is a collective group of educators, mentors, parents, and volunteers, whose main focus is to educate the youth on the importance of community service while implementing programs to enhance and nurture this effort.
The organization’s first empowering session facilitated a dialogue on compassion and how the youth can actively help those in need.
On the second part of the event, the young scholars collaborated to make items like scarves, pictures, and letters that will be sent to the elderly. Volunteering will be a main initiative, as the youth can sign up to lend a hand at various community events and organizations such as soup kitchen, Meal at Noon, which happens every Saturday at Second Baptist Church in Long Branch.
The goal, organizers say, is to help young scholars develop long-term life skills they can apply to their everyday life.
“We see a need to enrich the life skills of the youth in the community; by providing an outlet for them to not only discuss their views on current issues, but emerge in them. With guidance, our Jacob’s Ladder Youth will empower themselves in community service, self esteem, business leadership, and career/ college ready events.”
