GHANA SUPER SESSION: MEMORIAL DAY WITH WILBUR V. MARTIN

Wilbur V. Martin, Vietnam veteran, took his time out of his demanding schedule to be a part of a Ghana Session in celebration of Memorial Day.

Mrs. Elgart’s chorus

This Ghana session began with Mrs. Elgart’s chorus singing the National Anthem, America the Beautiful, Lady Gaga’s Shallow, the Middle by Zedd, Maren, Morris, and Grey, and Happier by Marshmello and Bastille.

Presentations

After her chorus did amazing job in performing those songs, the students in Ghana did presentations about the origins of Memorial Day.

The presentations were on why it should be a day of remembrance for the soldiers who served and fought to save the world from tyrants, dictators, and terrorism.

Students in Ghana, Mr. Wronko’s students presented power point presentations on the remembrance of the soldiers from World War I, World War II, the Korean War, Vietnam War, Persian Gulf War, and the War on Terror.

In addition, Wilbur Martin brought his wife, Denise Martin, to the session. She was very impressed by the Ghana Project and thought that the students along with Wilbur did a wonderful job.

World War One – This war started in 1914 with the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand and ended in 1918. The Allied Powers of the United States, Great Britain, France, Russia, Italy, Romania, and Japan fought against the Central Powers of Germany, Austria-Hungary, Bulgaria, and the Ottoman Empire.

World War Two – This war started in 1939 and lasted until 1945. The Allied Powers of the United States, Great Britain, Soviet Union, and France took on the Axis Powers of Germany, Italy, and Japan.

Korean War – This war started in 1950 and ended in 1953. The war began when Communist North Korea crossed the 38th Parallel and invaded Non-Communist South Korea.  The United States fought on the side of South Korea.

Vietnam War – This was a war between Communist North Vietnam and South Vietnam. The United States like in the Korean War fought on the side of Non-Communist South Vietnam.

Persian Gulf War– This war began when Iraq invaded Kuwait. The United States was successful in defending Kuwait from Iraq.

The War on Terror – The War on Terror began after the events of 9/11/01. This war escalated into wars in Afghanistan and Iraq. The purpose, to end terrorism.
