Solid Rock Foundation School in Ghana and Aruba
During this session both Ghana and Aruba shared history, culture, and hobbies.
In the near future Kevin Ogden would like to join a session with Aruba and share his project idea on how to stop flooding.
Kevin’s project explained:
- Just recently, Ghana experienced severe flooding. From hospitals, to roads, to villages, there was water everywhere.
- Because of this, the Solid Rock Foundation School in Ghana had to cancel last week’s Ghana session.
- However, when the sessions resumed this week, the restart gave Mr. Wronko’s student, Kevin Ogden, a strong opportunity to launch his Civic Project and explain how the community could use floodwaters.
He showed in his drawing that the community could manage flood‑prone areas by adding multiple drainage sites. Once water flows into those drainage sites, the system directs it to an area equipped with a super‑heating generator.
The heating system would be over 100 degrees Celsius. The game plan would be to have the water evaporate and leave the area.
Andrew Boateng and the students in Ghana thanked Kevin for his idea and said they hope to implement it in the near future.
Furthermore, in another session with the students from the Solid Rock Foundation school in Ghana, Mr. David Wronko’s students did multiple presentations.
John Lewis
The first presentation was a play created by the students about John Lewis and his fight in helping African Americans during the Civil Rights Movement.
Salem Witch Trials
A presentation that followed that the Asbury Park High Schools conducted dealt with the comparing of the Salem Witch Trials to the time of McCarthyism.
During the time of the Salem Witch Trials, if someone did not like you they said you were a witch. Similar, during the time of McCarthyism, if someone did not like you they said you were a communist. The students explained that both periods were a difficult time to live in.
Democracy in Athens
From there, the third presentation was about a play which was created by the students dealing with democracy in Athens.
Mr. Wronko’s students explained in the play not everyone benefited from democracy especially women during that time frame. Therefore, students mentioned did Athens have a true democracy?
Bill Clinton
After Athens and Democracy, a presentation about Bill Clinton’s success as president was read along with another What… If? story which involved Superman, Batman, Darkseid, Thanos, Thor, Ironman, and Spiderman.
