Flavor Flav to host Las Vegas celebration for Team USA Women’s Hockey after Olympic Gold
The rapper launched a GoFundMe to support his “She Got Game” Celebration Weekend in Las Vegas, and the campaign topped $60,000 in under 24 hours.
Flavor Flav will host a full‑scale celebration for Team USA’s women hockey team after their gold‑medal win in Milan.
The rapper launched a GoFundMe to support his “She Got Game” Celebration Weekend in Las Vegas, and the campaign topped $60,000 in under 24 hours. He says the event will honor women athletes who often balance elite training with multiple jobs.
Flavor Flav Confirms July Celebration in Las Vegas
Flavor Flav announced the four‑day event on X under the headline “IT’S HAPPENING.” He confirmed the celebration will run July 16–19 in partnership with MGM Resorts. His post included a photo of the U.S. women’s hockey team.

In an Instagram video, Flav said the weekend will spotlight the women’s hockey team and other female athletes. He promised dinners, shows, and events designed to give the players a “real celebration.”
Team USA Women’s Hockey accepts invitation
The U.S. women’s hockey players accepted Flav’s invitation on their own without input from USA Hockey, according to a person familiar with discussions told The Associated Press. The person added that it was unclear whether the entire 23-player roster would attend due to potential scheduling conflicts.
A Long Track Record of Supporting Women Athletes
Flavor Flav has become a visible supporter of women’s sports. He attended several Olympic events this month and has previously sponsored:
- The U.S. women’s water polo team
- The USA Bobsled and Skeleton program
He has also used his platform to advocate for better recognition and resources for female athletes. Many of these athletes train year‑round while working second and third jobs. Flav says they deserve meaningful support and public celebration.
What the Fundraiser Supports
The GoFundMe states that all funds will go directly to the invited athletes and help cover:
- Travel and accommodations
- Celebration events during the She Got Game weekend
- Additional financial support for the athletes’ futures
Flavor Flav said he wants to ensure the women receive a celebration that reflects the magnitude of their achievement. He emphasized that he expects hotels and airlines to join the effort.
A Push for Greater Recognition
The celebration comes days after the team declined a White House invitation to attend the State of the Union with the men’s hockey team due to academic and travel conflicts. Flav posted his invitation shortly afterward, saying he wanted to give the athletes a celebration “for real for real.”
The She Got Game weekend aims to highlight the broader issue of equity in women’s sports. Supporters say the fundraiser helps ensure these athletes receive the recognition they have earned.
