RECLAIMING OUR TIME: BLK Dating App takes over Miami spring break with “BLKHouse,” creating a cultural sanctuary for Black travelers
The BLKHouse Spring Break Takeover runs Monday, March 9, and Tuesday, March 10, at The Clevelander, featuring G‑Herbo, Zoe Spencer, and Brooklyn Frost.
MIAMI, FL — BLK, the largest dating app for the Black community, will take over South Beach this Spring Break with a free, two‑day cultural activation centered on safety, joy, and connection called BLKHouse.
The BLKHouse Spring Break Takeover runs Monday, March 9, and Tuesday, March 10, at The Clevelander, featuring G‑Herbo, Zoe Spencer, and Brooklyn Frost.
Miami Crackdowns Drive Demand for a Safer Space
Miami’s recent Spring Break restrictions have increased policing and enforcement, which many travelers say have disproportionately affected young Black visitors. These tensions have reshaped the Spring Break landscape and raised concerns about safety and belonging.
BLK is responding with a space designed to counter that environment. The BLKHouse aims to give Black students and travelers a place where they can celebrate without scrutiny.
Amber Cooper, BLK’s Head of Brand, said the takeover reflects the community’s determination to create its own safe spaces. She noted that Black students deserve a Spring Break experience free from judgment and unnecessary policing.
BLKHouse: A High‑Energy Hub Built for the Culture
The BLKHouse will turn The Clevelander into a curated cultural hub. The activation includes:
- Appearances from G‑Herbo, Brooklyn Frost, and Zoe Spencer
- Curated DJ sets
- Interactive activities
- Branded experiences
The event is designed to give Black Spring Breakers a space to connect, celebrate, and enjoy Miami on their own terms.
Cooper said BLK created the BLKHouse to ensure students have a place that feels fully theirs. She encouraged attendees to arrive ready to unwind and enjoy a judgment‑free environment.
