LOS ANGELES — Bill Duke, the veteran actor and filmmaker whose legendary work has spanned five decades, received the 2,837th star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

The ceremony, held February 26 at 6201 Hollywood Boulevard, coincided with his 83rd birthday.

The event drew colleagues, industry leaders, and family members who reflected on Duke’s influence across film and television. Actor and Walk of Famer Glynn Turman, Jeff and Nicole Friday of the American Black Film Festival and Nice Crowd, and Nathalie Duke, President of Duke Entertainment, spoke at the ceremony.

Ana Martinez, producer of the Walk of Fame, said in a statement that the Chamber honored Duke “for his decades‑long contributions to film and television both in front and behind the camera.”

A Body of Work That Spans Generations

Duke built his iconic career through memorable roles in films such as:

  • Car Wash (1976)
  • Commando (1985)
  • Predator (1987)
  • Get Rich or Die Tryin’ (2005).

His presence on screen often carried a quiet intensity that became a hallmark of his performances.

He also established a respected directing career. His credits include films like :

  • Deep Cover
  • A Rage in Harlem
  • The Killing Floor
  • Sister Act 2: Back in the Habit

The ceremony closed with Duke thanking supporters and acknowledging the artists who shaped his path.

Duke was honored in the Motion Pictures category.
