Bishop Eddie Long Speaks Publicly, Says He'll Fight Allegations

As many know, Bishop Eddie Long was apart of a scandal being accused of coercing young men to have sex with him. It is being reported that Bishop Long settled the civil law suit against him out of court for an undisclosed amount.

Just days ago, Pastor Creflo Dollar told his congregation in a sermon that what happened to Long was just a “wreck”.

“He had a wreck but here’s the good news…he had insurance! [Jesus]
You clap your hands now but let me have a wreck. I wanna see how many of yall NEGROS still gon’ be here…How many of yall precious saints of God…”

Even though the case may be settled, how quickly will we forget? Long’s members have been declining by the numbers with even Elder Bernice King leaving the New Birth Tabernacle Church in Atlanta, Ga. As Sherri Shepard said on ‘The View’ today, as a man of God, it looks worse settling out of court. Are you hiding something? Check out a piece from Roland Martin entitled “No Bishop Long, We Cannot Ignore The Past”.

CNN:
When Bishop Eddie Long stood before his congregation in Lithonia, Georgia, on Sunday to declare he would not be focused on the past and would look forward, his supporters said that was the right thing to do after he settled a civil suit alleging he coerced young, male followers into sex.

Sorry Bishop, as a man of God who is the shepherd of an international ministry, you cannot be let off that easily.

From the moment Long was accused eight months ago, he had the benefit of the doubt. He was innocent until proven guilty, and I wrote in a column that if he was innocent, he should defend his name and character with every fiber in his body.

He said as much before his congregation.

Yet now he settles a lawsuit, keeps the details private, refuses to speak publicly about the accusations and expects some form of forgiveness? It’s just not that simple.

I get the whole issue of settling a lawsuit to risk further damage and put the issue behind you. But when you are a pastor who has preached against gay marriage and homosexuality, who has openly talked about the covenant between a husband and wife, who has talked about the importance of men leading their families as strong men of faith, there is an expectation on you that is greater than the average man.

5-year-old Juwan Perry Jr is being held a hero after alerting his mother to a house fire, saving his family lives.

5-year-old saves family

On Apr. 5th around 4:40 am, Juwan woke up to the smell of smoke in his home in Warren, Michigan.

He said he saw flames and called for his mother.

His screams came just in time, and his mom Brittany was able to get all seven of the children in the home outside to safety.

Juwan’s mom says if it wasn’t for her son they likely wouldn’t have survived.

As for Juwan, he told WXYZ-TV his motivation for helping save his family despite the fear. “Because I love everybody,” he said.

The Warren Fire Department got the fire under control but the home is a total loss.

To help in recovering from this devastating loss, a GoFundMe has been launched to support them during this challenging time.

A magnitude 4.8 earthquake shook the northeastern United States on Friday morning.

According to the U.S. Geological Survey, the 4.8-magnitude earthquake was detected near Lebanon, New Jersey, at 10:23 a.m. Friday.

The earthquake was felt in New Hampshire down to Maryland.

According to the Richter scale, which is used to measure earthquake magnitude, they considered the event a “light” earthquake. Still, the geological survey posted on X that it was “notable.” They went on further to say earthquakes are “uncommon but not unheard of along the Atlantic Coast”.

It’s not yet clear if anyone was hurt in Friday’s quake.

9-year-old cancer survivor tragically killed

Elyas Amyr Marshall-Rodriguez got off the bus Tuesday afternoon and, as he was walking away from the bus, he dropped his football when he crawled under the bus to get it and the vehicle began moving.

Marshall-Rodriguez was in remission for leukemia when he was killed on Tuesday after being diagnosed at 2-years-old, according to his family who spoke at his vigil.

He loved life

“He was the life of the party,” said Trenae Gayle, Marshall-Rodriguez’ cousin. “He loved football; he loved basketball. He loved all sports.”

The family has set up a GoFundMe.

The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating the incident and the investigation is currently ongoing.
